Oriolus Ambiente e Ecoturismo Lda, a company dedicated to environmental studies and ecotourism, was created in 2006 to showcase the vast natural and cultural heritage of the northeast of Portugal, with a special relevance in birdwatching, wildlife observation and nature photography.
Since 1995 its managing partners, Bárbara and José, have been working on projects and studies of monitoring and conservation of fauna in Portugal and abroad. However, the predominance of the work is in the Northeast Transmontano, autonomously in the first years, and through Oriolus since 2006.
During all these years, they carried out studies for several national and Spanish public and private entities.
In 2016 the “Casa da Ti Cura” country houses were opened to the public, a rural complex that was recovered for housing and tourism in the countryside, in the village of Atenor (Miranda do Douro).
In parallel with the rural houses, Oriolus has been developing in the last years a project of nature photography, more precisely for the photography of fauna (big birds), from strategically located and accredited shelters.
The experience acquired during more than two decades in works of nature conservation, allowed them to know like nobody the natural spaces of greater interest and beauty of this region, and to gather an extraordinary knowledge on the distribution of the diverse species.
