Three-day trip to the region of Távora-Varosa, better known as “Terras do Demo” (Devil’s Land), where according to the famous Portuguese writer Aquilino Ribeiro, “neither Christ nor Your-Highness” passed.
Two rivers gave the name to these lands, Távora and Varosa, land of meditation and worship, where we will find the legacy of the monks of cister. Monastery of St. John of Tarouca, Monastery of Salzedas, Monastery of St. Peter of the Eagles and the Monastery of Our Lady of the Assumption of Tabosa.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lapa, once one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the Iberian Peninsula, awaits us at 1000 meters of altitude.
We will visit historic villages such as Fonte Arcada, Granja do Tedo and Ucanha, and learn about its history.

1st Day
Departure from Porto at 8.30 and trip to Lamego to visit its Cathedral, Castle and Sanctuary of “Nossa Senhora dos Remédios”.
Lunch in the village of Ucanha and in the afternoon we’ll visit the monasteries of Salzedas and St. John of Tarouca. Accommodation in Leomil and dinner with local gastronomy.

2nd Day
Early departure to visit the surrounding villages of Barragem do Vilar, Carregal Monastery and Nossa Senhora da Lapa Sanctuary. After lunch we’ll visit the localities of Freixinho, Fonte Arcada and Granja do Tedo. Accommodation in Leomil and dinner with regional gastronomy.

3rd Day
Pedestrian walk to know the Natural Castles of Cabriz or the Ponte do Fumo, in the Távora river. Visit to the Monastery of São Pedro das Águias and to a wine farm. Lunch in Tabuaço and visit to the village of Barcos. Return to Porto with passage through Régua. Arrival in Porto at 18.30.
