In the northeast of Portugal, along the Douro Valley – World Heritage (border with Spain), we find the Mirandese plateau with an altitude that varies between 700 and 900 meters. It was one of the most isolated regions of Portugal, which is why the second official language of the country is spoken here: mirandês.
To this region, belongs the Douro International Natural Park, with its magnificent landscapes of the cliffs over Douro river, and an abundant wildlife. The small villages, the heritage, the populations and the gastronomy complete the scenery.
Excellent place for bird watching, mainly preys, and long walks in nature.

1st Day
Departure from Porto and drive to Mogadouro, with stops in Amarante and in Sanctuary of “Santo Antão da Barca”. Lunch with typical dishes in the village of Azinhoso. In the afternoon, stops in the villages of Algoso (visit to it’s castle and interpretive center), Vale de Algoso, Uva and Mora to know the traditional architecture. Arrival at Casas da Ti Cura accommodation in Atenor. Dinner in the village of Sendim.

2nd Day
Early departure from Atenor, to an ATV / pedestrian ride through the cliffs over Douro river. Bird watching (griffins, Egyptian vulture, royal eagle, black stork). Visit to Barrocal do Douro (modern architecture) and Picote. Lunch in Miranda do Douro, visit to the historic center and a kayak tour or an environmental cruise on the Douro River. After that short walk to the spot of “São João das Arribas” (magnificent views). Return to Atenor. Dinner in the village of Palaçoulo.

3rd Day
Departure in the morning towards Lagoaça and visit the viewpoint of Carrascalinho. Lunch in Torre de Moncorvo, visit to the village and to the Iron Museum. Train travel from Pocinho to Pinhão along the World Heritage Douro Valley. Return to Porto with arrival by 19.00.
